The Maid Eeveelutions!

This year for Fanime (2025) I did a crazy project and decided to make 9 whole outfits for me and 8 other people! It was so much work and even though i tried to do everything as early as possible, I still ended up in ConCrunch! In this post, I want to tell you all about it!

I love the Eeveelutions so much and have always loved cosplaying them with friends. The first time I did so I made myself a Sylveon cosplay and my friends made or bought a Flareon, Umbreon, and Leafeon cosplays of their own. The second time I cosplayed Sylveon, I made a new outfit and made my husband a Leafeon cosplay. As you can tell, Sylveon is my favorite.

I had seen a lot of art of different versions of the Eeveelutions and had always wanted to make so many of them a reality. At one point a friend and I were talking and we decided to make a version of the Eeveelutions to look like PLayboy Bunnies. We designed the outfits and decided we had to make them a reality. I spent months working on 9 different body suits for myself and 8 others and they turned out okay but I still wasn't super proud of them by the time Fanime 2023 arrived and we entered into the Masquarade.

A year passed and I decided that I absolutely had to make more versions of the Eeveelutions. I found some art of Maid versions and took inspiration from those. (Here's the link to the art: https://www.tumblr.com/zoe-oneesama/179876838609/welcome-to-cafe-eeveelution-pokemon-master ) I absolutely loved the art style and thought that Maid Eeveelutions would be super cute! I got a group together of me and 8 others, some of which had been part of the Playboy Bunny versions, and some new faces. I decided to make all the dresses, aprons, headbands, and tails and my friend Arin (our Glaceon for both the Playboy Bunny and Maid versions) offered to do all the wigs. At one point it was decided that as Maids, we had to be carrying something to serve, so we decided to make fake Ultra Shakes. Anna (our Eevee) offered to help with that and seriously they would not have been done without her!

I started with making the patterns for the dresses and then got to work sewing them together! It was a lot of trial and error and having all my fellow models living out of town (some even out of state) made it hard to make sure they fit. I ended up sending three of the dresses up to Arin, who lived in Washington with Chris and was able to visit her sister Kelsie so she could try the dresses on all three of them and adjust them as needed. A few people lived a little closer so I went to visit them to try their dresses on. For some reason I really struggled with the bodices on some of these dresses and had to make several adjustments.

After I had all the dresses mostly sorted out, I then made the aprons! They were a bit easier to make then the dresses. I made fabric covered buttons to go on them as well as cross-stitched each Eeveelutions' face into a patch that I ironed onto the aprons. It was so much fun to see them come together! Although I do have to say, it's become a running joke that ruffles are my nemesis. There was SO. MUCH. RUFFLING!!!

In between making the dresses and the aprons I met up with Anna, our Eevee, and we made the milkshakes that we were going to be carrying around. This was a crazy idea we came up with and sent me down a whole rabbit hole of "fake bake" YouTube channels. We used so many different materials for these things: caulking, paint, oven-bake clay, air dry clay, styrofoam balls, resin, and several other things I can't even remember! It was so much fun to make these with Anna and I really enjoyed the time we spent on them.

As we got closer to Fanime, I could definitely feel the pressure mounting. I honestly rushed to finish what I could for this project but didn't get everything done that I wanted to. I just barely finished the headbands the night before the Masquerade competition and didn't get to make any of the tails I had planned on making.

I went into the judging room honestly thinking that since not everything was done, we probably weren't going to win any prizes, and as much as I would like to say I was wrong, unfortunately, that was not the case. We had a lot of fun on stage and the skit we did was pretty cute, but there were so many other good cosplayers and skits this year. The winners all did so amazing, and I'm so happy for them. This project was so much fun but also so much work. I stressed my husband out with this project and have been told I'm not allowed anymore projects with more than 3 people for at least 5 years! But let me tell you, I have another Eeveelutions project that I hope to take on the future, so stay tuned for that!

Big shot out to all my models, without who this all would have been impossible. Until the next project!
